Many fashion retailers are making the decision to become vegan friendly, cutting out certain materials that are sourced from animals as the demand for vegan options skyrocket. After PETA went undercover in South Africa to investigate the worlds largest supplier of Mohair, brands such as Zara, H&M, Topshop and GAP have all cut the use of the material out of their clothing. As Mohair comes from Angora goats, PETA placed hidden cameras and were horrified to see the atrocious conditions and brutality in which the goats were being treat. This then lead to a number of brands axing the use of certain materials in their clothing and providing more vegan options. PETA spokesperson Elisa Allen said ‘That’s why compassion, sustainability and innovation are shaping todays fashion industry as the number of people adopting the vegan lifestyle increases, fashion is following suit and stepping up its animal cruelty-free game’.
